HYPERMIX wins Red Dot for high design quality

INVENT Press Release

INVENT has been successful in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The international jury has awarded the HYPERMIX®-Agitator the distinction “Red Dot”, which stands for high design quality.

HYPERMIX®: excellent design, excellent function

Drinking water storage and distribution are crucial in ensuring a safe water supply. Layers formed at different temperatures in stored water pose a health risk. Algae, post-contamination, or variations in water quality may occur with long storage times in the distribution system. The HYPERMIX®-Agitator represents the first hyperboloid-shaped agitator to be installed in drinking water storage tanks. Fluid-mechanically optimized, it efficiently homogenizes the water.

The agitator sits embedded in a three-legged stainless steel support adapted to the contour of the agitator body. The support also acts as a flow breaker, deflecting the rotational component of the flow speed in the radial direction. The HYPERMIX® rotating hyperboloid body initiates a flow that extends radially outward along the basin floor. The agitator pulls in fluid from above, breaking up stratification and safely mixing the contents of the basin. The vortex ring prevents spiral vortices around the circumference of the HYPERMIX®-Agitator, maximizing the efficiency of the overall machine. The content of the basin remains homogenized.

Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec on the laureates

“The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 were particularly impressive this year. The design of their products is excellent, in terms of both the aesthetic and the functionality. It’s not easy to prevail in such a strong field of competitors and to win over our jury. Consequently, I want to congratulate the laureates very sincerely on their success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.

Evaluation platform for good design

The Red Dot Award: Product Design dates back as far as 1955 and recognises the best products for a given year. The roughly 50 jurors were once again true to the motto “In search of good design and innovation” in the 2021 competition. The international panel of experts comprises specialists from a wide variety of sectors. They scrutinised the products entered in the competition in a process that spanned several days and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality, ergonomics and longevity.

HYPERMIX® in exhibitions, online and in the yearbook

The HYPERMIX®-Agitator can be seen in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website from 21 June 2021. That date also marks the beginning of the Red Dot Design Week, during which this year’s award winners and INVENT will be celebrated online.

From 22 June 2021, the HYPERMIX®-Agitator will also be included in the exhibition “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, where all of the award-winning products are showcased. Visitors to the museum can experience the quality of the designs in a space that features contemporary design solutions and historical industrial architecture. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2021/2022 comes out in August. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the state of the art and trends in product design.

Award of the Top100 seal for innovative power

For more than 20 years, the “Top 100” seal has been recognizing companies for their innovative strength, thirst for knowledge and team spirit. Last Friday, Germany’s most successful think tanks received the coveted award, which was presented at the German SME Summit in Essen. The Franconian company INVENT Umwelt- und Verfahrenstechnik AG from Erlangen is now one of the top innovators of 2014.

The increasing burden on our environment is a problem that affects everyone. In particular, the pollution of water has been increasing for years. At the same time, the legislator is – rightly so – making even higher demands on the quality of the treated waste water. Future-oriented wastewater treatment therefore requires the use of innovative technology. INVENT Umwelt- und Verfahrenstechnik AG develops innovative, energy-saving and reliable products that make a significant contribution to protecting and preserving our environment.

At the various locations of the Erlangen-based company, clever minds are working on the realization of all kinds of ideas that follow the company motto “Water needs responsibility”. The product range extends from mixing technology to aeration technology and system technology. The latest achievements in the field of mixing technology are the CYBERFLOW®-Accelerator and the seventh, completely revised and revolutionarily improved version of the classic hyperboloid mixer, the HYPERCLASSIC®-Mixer evolution 7, which has been used worldwide in wastewater treatment for over 20 years.

When asked what characterizes the company’s climate of innovation, Dr. Marcus Höfken answered: “100% of all INVENT products are developed and marketed in-house by employees. As a result, there is a very solid and established climate of innovation, which is anchored in the “company DNA”.

INVENT not only received good ratings in the “Innovation” category, the “thirst for knowledge” and “team spirit” are also always encouraged in the Franconian company. A generous contingent of further education measures and general training courses is available to every employee.
