Interview with Thomas Martin on Ecomondo 2024

This year, INVENT Aeration Services, the Italian subsidiary of INVENT, is participating for the first time at Ecomondo (November 5-8) in Rimini, Italy. In advance, Thomas Martin explains why it’s worth visiting the INVENT booth.

What should all visitors be sure to see at the INVENT booth?

The iTURBO®-Blower! This product takes center stage for INVENT this year!

High energy costs in wastewater treatment are a burden for every operator, as blowers for aeration and mixing systems can account for up to 70% of a treatment plant’s energy consumption. Thanks to various optimizations, our iTURBO®-Blower sets new standards in energy efficiency and performance, making it the solution for reducing the energy footprint while also keeping maintenance costs low.

What are you expecting from Ecomondo?

Ecomondo is a fantastic trade fair with an international audience, and its vibrant energy is fascinating. Many of our clients have confirmed their visit to our booth, which we’re especially excited about! But we also want to reach out to visitors from engineering firms, contractors, and operators who may not be as familiar with INVENT or may not yet know all our solutions focused on wastewater treatment.

Visit us at Booth No. 110 in Hall D8 for a personalized consultation – a conversation about the iTURBO®-Blower as well as our mixing and aeration systems will definitely be worthwhile!

Lecture Quantitative Methods for Analyzing G-Values in Rapid Mixing and Flocculation Tanks using CFD Simulations

We invite you to the CFD-lecture by our expert Averil Fernandes, M.Eng, CFD & Biological Process Engineer at INVENT, at ECOMONDO 2024. She will be delivering an engaging presentation at the conference, which we encourage you to attend!

Title: Quantitative Analysis of Velocity Gradients in Rapid Mixing Tanks Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

This presentation introduces a novel approach to the analysis and characterization of rapid mixing and flocculation tanks using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. While rapid mixing chambers, designed for efficient initial contact and dispersion of the flocculant, are characterized by high velocity gradients and short residence times, flocculation tanks require a significantly larger volume, longer residence times, and gentle flow circulation to promote floc growth and aggregation. Traditional engineering practices have often relied on averaged parameters like the G-value (Camp and Stein, 1943) to describe the overall velocity gradient within a tank. However, these conventional methods fall short in providing a detailed understanding of local flow dynamics within the tank.

Using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, it is possible to conduct a more precise analysis of velocity gradients both locally (Eulerian approach) and on individual flocs (Lagrangian approach).

Interview with Teresa Sword

Teresa Sword INVENT Weftec

Behind the Scenes at WEFTEC

WEFTEC consistently presents an exciting challenge for INVENT, from the preparation stages to the event days themselves. The INVENT team is dedicated to delivering a unique experience for our visitors. In this interview series, INVENT employees share their personal experiences with WEFTEC. Today, it’s Teresa Sword‘s (Sales) turn.

Could you tell us more about yourself and your role at INVENT?

My name is Teresa Sword and I am a Professional Engineer, with a degree in Environmental Engineering. I joined INVENT in 2011 as a Regional Manager for the South and South-eastern US and in total have been working with the INVENT equipment for about 18 years. Initially, I was intrigued by the unique and efficient mixer design, but have discovered that the technical depth of the company goes so much deeper.

My role at INVENT includes helping to develop markets by providing solution-focused equipment, working with our extensive representative network, acting as a key liaison between the company and its clients, and understanding customer needs and then translating them into effective solutions. With a strong knowledge of wastewater process, treatment technologies, and industry trends, I most enjoy the deeper dives into merging our equipment and process solutions that address complex client challenges. Helping customers to address their process, equipment, and maintenance related issues is very satisfying.

Why do you believe the WEFTEC exhibition is so important?

I’ve been attending WEFTEC for over 20 years and look forward to it each year. INVENT brings our technical team and full-sized physical equipment to exhibit at our booth. Having the equipment on display provides an opportunity to see the construction and quality first-hand, in an environment where it is not submerged, so you can see all the details that are not visible in an operating facility. The chance to meet with customers, potential customers, operations staff, and consultants face to face, as well introduce our management and technical team has become even more important in the last few years, since many meetings now occur on-line. I’m looking forward to learning about new advancements and research, as well as seeing the many colleagues and friends again.

Jackie Lauer INVENT Weftec

Behind the Scenes at WEFTEC

WEFTEC consistently presents an exciting challenge for INVENT, from the preparation stages to the event days themselves. The INVENT team is dedicated to delivering a unique experience for our visitors. In this interview series, INVENT employees share their personal experiences with WEFTEC. Today, it’s Jackie Lauer‘s (Sales) turn.

Could you tell us more about yourself and your role at INVENT?

My name is Jackie Lauer, and I am the regional manager for the mid-west over to the western coast of the US along with western Canada. I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Clemson University in Environmental Engineering and Science. I have been in the industry for over a decade and am passionate about educating people about water and wastewater. I currently live in Wyoming with my husband and two dogs and love to travel.

What was your funniest/most moving moment at WEFTEC?

My very first day at INVENT was at WEFTEC 2022. I flew in, and on that day I met all of my co-workers, my boss, and all of our reps! Good thing I wasn’t required to give any presentations, but by day 3 of training and shadowing, I had the basics down and was able to talk about most of the equipment on the showroom floor. Talk about sink or swim!

Why do you believe an exhibition is so important?

The exhibition is important because visuals and meeting people are important. Being able to see the life-size and modeled equipment gives engineers and customers the understanding and size of what INVENT manufactures. Also being able to use the equipment to explain how they work is vital for people who learn visually.

What should all visitors to the INVENT booth definitely see?

The true-to-size mixer hanging from the ceiling. It’s a show stopper, and you can see it from booths away. The mixer is my go-to presentation area when talking about INVENT, and often gains crowds to learn how it works. It’s definitely the star of the booth!
